Community Health

The main focus of community health is to improve availability of and access to necessary resources (e.g., healthcare, education, basic needs, etc.) in order to build a healthier community. Northern Bristol County Public Health Alliance (NBCPHA) staff and our associated local health department staff work hard each and every day to build stronger programs and meet the needs of individuals and families to improve the health and wellbeing of our community members.

Some of these actions include:
   1. Increasing availability of local clinics -- vaccines, blood pressure, blood glucose, etc.
   2. Developing relevant educational materials to provide comprehensive information to community members
   3. Engaging in infectious disease surveillance and investigation to treat illness and prevent the spread of disease
   4. Developing models to assess community health and identify critical needs and gaps in access within the community
   5. Developing and implementing programming to meet the needs reported by community members
   6. Participating in local public health events to provide education and resources at a regional scale
